5 1/2 years ago, I posted in this very forum. I said something like “I’m interested in owning my own company one day, but don’t know where to start. Can any of you guys who started with nothing offer any advice?”

I got several replies, but one guy stood out. He told me not only would he teach me the basics of contracting, but he had a 24×40 I could use. He just wanted to make a little off the top. Sounded like a fair deal.

After some discussion and some thought, I went for it. I quit a good job with a reputable company. Had NO idea what I was doing. It was rough, really rough. Had no money to pay a descent crew, had no good work. But I kept giving 110% chasing a dream. 3 months later I was a month behind on my mortgage, working 90+ hours a week. Broke as hell. At the 6 month mark, I was surviving. At the 1 year mark, I was doing ok. At the 2 year mark, I was making what I made at my last job, but enjoying more freedom. At the 3 year mark, I bought my first brand new drill with no assistance. This is where I started to grow.

Fast forward to now, 5 years later I have 3 drills and am doing just fine! I mean it has its ups and downs for sure, but when it’s good, it’s good!!!! Has its struggles, but I am proud I made the jump 5 years ago.

Now, the same individual who helped me get started attempted to help another, bought a brand new 24×40 for him to run. The guy lasted a year before it was time to run him off and take back the machine…

Now this friend of mine has a year old machine needing somebody like who I was. Somebody to take it over. I cannot take on a 4th drill right now. My 3 keep me spread thin as it is.

I’m posting this in hopes to find that right person who is hungry. This is a tough fucking business. Starting out you have to be willing to do it all for hours on end. It is hard. But has its rewards. This is a great opportunity for the right individual.

You must live in the southeast, be willing to work under our contracts. Be productive and do quality work. Must acquire an LLC and your own insurance. It doesn’t happen overnight, we know that.

I’m not sharing my number on here for obvious reasons. Email me and explain why your a good candidate and we’ll go from there.

There’s not enough money in this for brokers, unless you plan on being the one doing the work, move along.

Hey man I got an llc started. Have a full crew. Have tooling for 24×40. Only thing I would need is insurance and that’s no issue already have the quote just can’t justify buying it with no equipment and not working As our llc, I’d like more info.

    Hello,

I am very interested in speaking with you and seeing what kind of deal we can work out. I already have a company with drills and crews. I really
like the opportunity for expansion that you present here. We are a very good company and we get paid every time because my partner and I are ex Veterans and also ex managers for AT&T, Crown Castle, and General Dynamics. All of the prime contractors such as Mastec, Black & Veatch, Bechtel, and so forth used to work for me and under me. We know all of the required deliverables and the process for getting the time clock started on approved invoices probably better than any subcontractor out there. Please call me at 606-495-0807 when you have a chance.

I’m interested if the opportunity is still there. I’ve got 8 years drilling experience, have been looking into getting my own drill, but was never sure how to get started. Currently I’m working for a company that has just started an underground side , I’m basically starting the drilling side for them. Doing this has made me realize if I can start and run a drilling business for them I should be able to do that for myself. I would need some direction on how to get an LLC and where to shop for insurance. My number is 8142035153 , i just relocated from Pennsylvania down to North Carolina.
